Wondering how many people have been contacted by Linkedin users looking for technical support and offering payment for it?

Wow something new? Hearing/reading about this first time.

This is not the first time for me, first time a guy from California actually tracked me down and called me and I know in that case it was not through our corporate website because it was my personal mail server that he emailed to.

That would be interesting. As it is, I get about 3 dozen head hunter emails a day, most have nothing to do with my skill set.

Yeah, I get lots of recruiters. Impossible to get off of all their call lists.

No actual people, though.

First I’ve heard of it.

I get a large number of recruiters emailing me, have had a few “personal” ones like you mentioned.

I have seen a few recruitment ones, guess I could view it as a subset the gig economy and make a few bucks. Must be my world-wide reputation.

Not me ever.

I get pinged to participate in 1 hour technology sessions from a paid sponsor with their client(s) ranging anywhere from a $10 to $500.

I did one for $295 out of curiosity. Within maybe 15 minutes they started asking questions that were spelled out as off limits in the paperwork :joy:

This has never happened to me. I get recruiter messages about contract work… But never like help desk request for an immediate issue LOL. My friends sometimes reach out on other platforms for tech issues.

Don’t think anybody likes me as I haven’t heard a peep from nobody. Granted, any LinkedIn email I get promptly goes to the trash bin.

0 but maybe they know I’ll say no

I don’t know if it’s people who found me on LinkedIn, but I get spam calls and emails all day every day just like everyone else. I gotta say though…if someone offered money to talk to me, I might consider responding.

Never heard of that one. I’m suspicious it is somehow a scam.

1 Spice up

Yet another reason I’m glad to have left LinkedIn.

None for me, and zero contact except maybe three times in the last 5 years. Twice from recruiters, and once from a manager at a legit organization in my industry. But my LI is so specific and niche to my industry anyway that I don’t look like a regular IT person.

Its happened to me. Someone asking for help troubleshooting some Ubiquiti gear. I politely declined…

1 Spice up

sounds scammy to me.

This has not happened to me though I do get offered to participate in paid Q&A Sessions about AWS all the time and I always decline. I did get a job from LinkedIn once and I currently use LinkedIn Learning which is pretty cool. Other than that I don’t use the “Social Media” aspect of it at all.
