Hi everyone,

I’m just setting up our new McAfee ePO server and the dbo.orionsnapshot table has jumped to 24Gb in just a few days.

I had the server snapshot daily task active so I expected something but I can’t see how these snapshots are manageable.

From the server snapshot Dashboard I can see the last run time and can run another manually, but I can’t find more indepth info about how this process is handled by ePO. Does it keep more than the last successful snapshot and is there a way of deleting it/them through ePO?

Can I delete the rows in the db table or could this screw up references elsewhere? If it continues to increment this seems an unmanageable approach to DR - I’m hoping I’ve missed something obvious…anyone?

Thanks!

Thanks for the link, I’m meeting an Intel techie tomorrow and will pick his brains. I was hoping for a more automated way to maintain these but would like to hear what he has to say first.

Watch this space…

Sorry for the off topic, ePO database maintenance and web interface are the most terrible laggy things I have seen in my life, and I have been using ePO, Trend Micro, now ESET NOD, also have layed my hands to Symantec Endpoint Protection. Out of all these choices my personal opinion is that McAfee was the worst product ever.

My first experience with ePO in a large multinational company was exactly the same - 20GB database in a few days, they never helped me to understand even why this happens.

Most enthusiastic thing about McAfee is that the former CEO of the company John McAfee admits himself this product is a bloatware… search google for the articles.
