Hello,

I have been running spiceworks in a test enviroment for about a month now, and I am pleased to say that this free app will soo be replacing a 17K a year MSP product that no one here was happy with.

Now for the hard part (hahahaha)

How do I move the spice works data to another pc?

Thanks

Adam

Take a look here:

it should give you everything you need.

Install Spiceworks on the New pc you want. Stop the Spiceworks service. Then copy the Spiceworks data over to the new server. I had it done with in a few minutes. I was running Spiceworks off my workstation as a test, then I moved it off to a server.

Here is the article.

Duncan was just a bit faster than me.

From within Spiceworks click on Settings and then Backup Configuration. In that window you will see an option to Backup Now. Click on that link and save your backup to whichever location you would like.

Next, install Spiceworks on the new PC. When the install is complete shut Spiceworks down and replace the DB and Data folders that were just created on the new PC with the backup folders from your old install.

When you bring Spiceworks back up all your data should be there.

Once it is done and confirmed uninstall SW on your old PC.

edit Wow I must type slow. No one had responded when I started typing this!
