Howdy:

I recently put Windows 7 on a PC and want to administer Spiceworks on this new PC (Migrate SW from my current machine to this new one).

How do I go about this?

I’ll install Spiceworks on the new machine, but how do I confighure the install so that my current spiceworks helpdesk, etc., gets migrated to the new machine?

Do I need to rename my new machine the same as my old one (and remove the old one off the network)?

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Rob

You should be able to simply backup your Spiceworks installation from the old machine, then install to your new Windows 7 PC, and restore the backup.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago, just in reverse - went from my Windows 7 PC to one of my servers. Network scanning from a laptop that’s not on the network doesn’t always work so well, especially when it’s powered off.

Thanks. This stuff is ghreat. One more question:

How do I find what Directory and Port I am currently using?

Is the directory c:>>Program files>>Spiceworks?

And does it typically use port 80?

Thanks!

Right click the spiceworks icon in your sys tray
