Really? I know this guy is not a MS employee, just a vendor, but c’mon!

Don’t get it.
He’s apologizing for his late response due to a password issue. Next, he’s asking for clarification of your question?

I just think it’s funny he had an issue with his password expiring and basically did not know how to change it. You’d think those with @microsoft.com addresses would be better trained. Or just goes to show that those kinds of users are everywhere.

They’re not necessarily admins though - some might be sales staff?

I have two factor authentication on for my MS account. I have to change the damn thing EVERY TIME I need to log on. B@stards wont let me reuse a former password, demand complex passwords and on and on…every time I set it - I forget it (often need something on the fly)…I know it is a variation of the same thing,…but what variation? Plus, if my cell phone is dead/missing…I am stuck.
Same with Google accounts…harder than it needs to be.
@jamespierce
So I should know everything about everything that happens at Microsoft because my email address ends in @microsoft.com? I say that gets a ‘com’on man’ from me. I’m sure ‘Betsy’ in Accounting wouldn’t agree with you here.
Everyone is new at some point. I don’t blame them for being new, but look at the resources available to help this individual.

I worked for a architectural company once, (still do kind of) doesn’t mean I’m a structural engineer.
Everyone has their talents, their passions, their strengths and weaknesses. I get plumbers and HVAC guys come into my office all the time telling me they’re sorry for wasting my time with easy fixes.
I tell them this every time: Don’t be sorry. Everyone has their skill to lend to the company. I’m sure I’d make a fool of myself trying to plumb some of the large pump systems I’ve seen these guys install. It doesn’t make you stupid for not knowing IT stuff just like I’m not stupid because I don’t know plumbing.

Gonna have to agree with everyone else, just because you work in a division for a company doesn’t mean you’re a subject matter expert on their products or technologies.
For comparison, my email address ends in @Xschools.org, yet I know very little about teaching or curriculum.

Alright, I suck. My apologies. Can I delete the post?

Good to know this isn’t just me
When a teacher apologizes to me for having simple issues, I respond “I don’t expect you to know everything about computers, much like how you shouldn’t expect me to know everything about teaching. We take the best of our abilities and work together to form a school district”.

No, because it’s amusing.

You don’t suck though… that’s a bit harsh even for a Monday.

Ah man, don’t beat yourself up too much. Yes, you were wrong, but we’ve all been there. I made a post on a Reddit forum that I thought would go over really well and was good advice, basically had 9/10 people on that forum disagree with me. Feelsbadman.

Honestly, I’m just frustrated with this person. I was told the process would only take a few weeks, that was back in October. I have remained professional in my email with him, came here to vent.

We all gotta vent sometimes, that’s just part of the job, otherwise we would explode!!
I know the feeling. I made a post once about one of the daily questions that I thought the % of correct answers should be higher. I got hammered for it. The question is did we learn from our mistake? I did.
