Hello Fellow SpiceWorkers,

I had a question for the MSP’s out there, what is your pricing model like?

Do you charge per user

Do you charge per pc?

Do you offer all you can eat?

What are you charging, in what areas?

Most importantly, why do you charge the way you do?

Do you accept credit card payments? in my experience every MSP I have worked for, has denied credit payments. is this a run of bad luck or is the credit fee really that high?

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

We hate the charge per seat and all you can eat. It’s very common, and is good for the vendor. As a client, I wouldn’t like it, so we don’t do it. We do an agreement, but not a contract.

Our pricing tiers are based on weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly visits. We don’t lock clients in because that means we’re working for the business whenever we go out. If we stop producing good results, they should be able to tell us to hit the bricks with little notice.

{"@type":"Person
bbigford
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/bbigford"}},{"@type":"Answer

I agree with BBigford, when it comes to all you can eat and agreements rather than contracts. I prefer charging per workstation and added fees for things like cell phone management and printer management. I have also seen all you can eat style however support is purchased in blocks of hours with some rollover bi-weekly or monthly. In all honestly, I believe is depends strongly on competition for pricing. In bigger cities you will find people who charge pennies and people who charge hundreds per hour for hourly rate services. As for credit card, my company does accept them but they are not preferred. Credit card fees are annoying.

{"@type":"Person
russbrustky
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/russbrustky"}},{"@type":"Answer

I can’t say that I know much about MSP, because that isn’t where I currently work. I would like to recommend however listening to the show Podnutz Pro if you are getting into MSP. Podnutz Pro | Podnutz I’ve listened to a few of their shows and they have a good amount of experience in the MSP field and they discuss topics like pricing and such. Although I’m not an MSP, I’ve still picked up some good nuggets from them and enjoy listening to their show. You can always email or call them and they will respond well and usually include it in their show.

{"@type":"Person
mberna
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/mberna"}}]}}
