Hi everyone, this is the one I’d bet most people have been waiting for.

We finally have online check working. Currently we’ll allow you to monitor your devices via ping, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH (checking the port is responding) and SIP.

Just like port monitoring, the wording on the emails is a little weird. We’ll be spending the next week or so firming things up and fixing things like this, but we wanted to give everyone a chance to try it out while we finish things up.

So download the beta, install it, try it out and let us know what you think. As always, please ensure you’re doing a fresh install of the beta on a test system that isn’t your production system as we can’t guarantee you won’t run into bugs that might affect the stability of your Network Monitor.

In the previous beta I had a link to our import/export tool, but it’s not working so well due to a suspected bug in the way credentials are stored/credential change functionality, so I’m not going to promote it for this beta. We’ll sort out those bugs too during this week and then we’ll give the import/export tool another shot.

The new beta is available by the download button in this group, or from this URL: http://download.spiceworks.com/SpiceworksNetworkMonitor/beta/SpiceworksNetworkMonitor.exe

Nice update. The online check still seems a big buggy though. Set it to try checking my site and it worked once then insisted it was offline until I removed it.

It’s still tripping my ESXi server with failed login attempts but now it seems to fail some and succeed on others. I can’t figure out what’s happening there. Not much point since it doesn’t retrieve any info yet.

Thanks Tim…are there any bug fixes with this one…or just feature enhancements >?

yay! installing now! great effort!

Unfortunately the dashboard is virgin white after installation.

Also after loading I had to press F5 to get past the loading screen. This is in every session I tried.

(Devices and settings menu’s are showing as they should (including the mini toturial))

Server reboot had no effect.

Is this upgraded all the way from a pre 1.3 installation?

No extra bug fixes, we’re taking the last week of the beta to fix bugs.

What protocol did you use to monitor your site? Also can you give me the URL so that I can test it? PM it to me if you don’t want to post it publicly.

Tim- I don’t have any spare machines to install a separate beta version of Network Monitor- is an in-place upgrade really not supported, or just something you discourage?

@timgittos-spiceworks

It’s something we discourage as betas can possibly have breaking bugs in them.

Tim, no this was update from 1.4.00078.

So previous beta was working fine dashboard wise.

Ps. Before 1.4.00078 I was on 1.3

Are you getting an error in your Javascript console? Could you screenshot it if you are?

Will try to locate it and test it. Will come back to you asap.

edit;

Not able to start or open the java console on 3 different machines. Sorry for that.

edit;

Found this in the iexplorer debug log:

chrome:

I reinstalled the application and all is fine now.

the new ping monitor seems to work, only the layout is out of center.

When changing the device name under the advanced tab when adding a device, the name is not shown. I would like to be able to see the device name instead of the IP address.

Thanks for the feedback Michael, we’ve been seeing that blank dashboard issue for a while now. I think it’s something to do with files becoming untracked in the installer and not being removed properly during the upgrade. I think it’s indicative of a larger problem that we need to look into.

Just installed the new beta (fresh install) and when going through the features, after I select Windows Server, its skips the IP/Hostname and goes straight to credentials.

If you’re following the instructions, then that’s by design. We want new users to add their localhost so they can train on how they can add devices. It’s the one device we know they’re not going to have any networking issues with.

Is SNMP v3 supported yet?

Not yet.

Is there a way to skip it?
