Hello all
Long and short I’ve been working in IT for almost 18 years. I started right of high school as an entry-level help-desk person and moved my way up over the years from there to sysadmin to system admin lead then to net admin now im a Network Manager (really means net admin but i have people under me as well). I never had formal training of any kind just learned on the job and did the tasks that I needed to do.
I want to take an online course to get a full understanding of routing and switching as well as firewalls. I’m sure some of the topics I will understand but I want to fully understand it without always having to google something. We primarily use cisco gear at my office with some fortinet and ubiqutiy gear thrown in.
Any class recommendations? I was going to start with udemy?
Any help would be great.

Yes, Udemy is fine to start. Though you can find a lot of free training videos about networking.
Honestly the CCNA course will give you a good solid understanding you just need to learn that Cisco calls things differently to everyone else.
Would a CompTIA Network+ be a better solution to not be vendor agnostic? But still help me get a full understanding of the concepts.

I think that really depends on where you’re at in your career and what your goals are. In your case, I would agree with @bloodwolfmerlin3541 ’s recommendation to go for the CCNA. The reason I would choose that over the Net+ is because the CCNA is going to be directly applicable to your job right now. In my experience, CCNA prep materials do a good enough job at explaining the vendor-agnostic fundamentals, so it’s really just learning new command syntax when moving to Fortinet/Ubiquiti gear.
