Here is a solution that I did not find in other discussions.
Since new devices were not showing up, I did the following troubleshooting steps:
I verified that I could ping the new computer from the Spiceworks server and that the firewall was off on the new computer.
I ran a scan on the IP address of the computer. The device turned up as dark gray, which is neither scanned, error or open IP.
I did a search for the computer name and returned no results.
I did a search for the IP address and returned no results.
I did a search for the serial number and got a hit. This computer had been used by another user, wiped and re-imaged for a new user with a new computer name. While the computer was deleted from Active Directory, it was not deleted from Spiceworks. Once I deleted the old computer from Spiceworks, the scan ran successfully.
I hope this solution helps others in this group.

Hey Jeff,
Great tip! You might want to write up a how-to on this as well. That should help out other SpiceHeads and get you some points to boot.
