I just setup my network monitor and I’ve added servers and such. However, I’m not receiving any kind of alerts after powering off one of the servers to test it. I verified they’re enable in settings (most are still left default), but I don’t see anything popping up on the monitor or in email. What am I missing here?
Also, I’ve setup two network devices with community strings that I’ve verified are working on another monitoring software, but I don’t see any activity in Spiceworks. Are there any other configurations I’m missing there?
Thanks,
D

If you are using default monitor, it might have been configured to not alert, just check if you see the button below and enable the update you need.
For Community Strings, some of my devices(Cisco WLC for example) requires setting up trap receivers on the device before it will work properly.
Just need to add the IP address of your Spicework network monitor then it will still feeding information to your Spiceworks Network Monitor.
How do you have the email notifications setup?
If you are referring to outgoing email server then the answer is no setup necessary. email alerts comes from Spiceworks info@em.spiceworks.com and will be sent to the the email address of your user account which will be your spicework profile email.
For email alert in default monitor, you should see slider for email alert, just toggle it on or off based on your preference. the default seems to have a lot of email alert turned off.

I started receiving emails last night so I think it’s working now. I believe the test server wasn’t on long enough to get registered or w/e into the network monitor before I powered it down.
The SNMP part still isn’t registering. I tried adding the IP of the network monitor server into trap settings. I’m able to connect to fine through Solarwinds Real-Time Bandwidth Monitor.
Note: This is a Windows 10 machine I turned on SNMP settings to test. My real switch times out when I try to add it in (also able to connect to it fine with solarwinds).
