Hi.
I’m very new to Spiceworks and have just got the basic configuration the way I want it. I run the default daily network scan. Everything seems to be working very well, however quite a few if my PC devices keep repeating ‘New Software Installed’ alerts for all software. I setup the ‘Alert when New Software is installed’ These PC’s are running Vista Business.
I feel it’s important to monitor these PC’s for any new software but keep getting inundated with these false alerts showing all the software on the PC being installed day after day.
I ‘think’ i’m running Spiceworks 4.5 - I say think because i can’t see a version number anywhere apart from the install exe on the magazine disk I got it from.
How can i stop these false alerts?
Thanks

The version number is located in the bottom right corner of Dashboard page.
Follow this guide: Troubleshooting Spiceworks Inventory Inconsistencies - Spiceworks …
and set Scan Speed to slow.
If you are running on 4.5 you should upgrade.

Another hint: do not edit existing predefined monitors, create new ones instead and disable the unneeded.
After you have done all of what bytesnake suggests let us know how you go and we can proceed if you still have problems.
Hi
Thanks for your reply bytesnake. Unforntunately this has still not resolves it. I followed the troubleshooting guide and set scan speed to slow, but it still insists on throwing up alerts for many machines that clearly have not had all their software installed.
I’ve attached an example of the alerts i am getting.
Is there anything else i could try?
Thanks

OK, upgrade and see what happens.
