What do you plan on implementing in your environment for the new year?

A few of my goals

Push for WOL for all devices.

Rewrite company Policy for device usage/disaster recovery plan. (Our environment is good but the documentation is at least a few years old)

Fight for standardized equipment i.e. servers/computers/laptops/OS’s.

Push for paperless/ less paper.

Purge old data.

Here are a few:

  1. Implement an email archive system/policy. Maybe change our email encryption service.

  2. Increase our use of Laserfiche (paperless office), decrease use of our homemade Access databases.

  3. Find and Implement new transportation routing software.

  4. Complete a new Security Risk Assessment.

  5. Introduce and train staff on new interactive white boards.

  6. I would like a year of just having things run smoothly but changes are a must

Replace SAN (Hopefully!)

Rebuild ESXi cluster (Hopefully!)

P2V the rest of the production server if the above happen.

  • Increase local backup storage

Get documentation up to date.

Evaluate anti virus solutions, license expires soon and might as well look around at the same time.
