I just received a call on my cell from 1-866-777-4098. I did not answer as I did not recognize the number and assumed it was a telemarketer or the like. I then listened to the voicemail, which was a message from Nicole to call her back regarding MS Partner Network and some conference this summer (details were limited). I think this was legit (not someone from “Microsoft Tech Support” wanting to clean viruses).
So I called the number she provided from my work land-line… no-can-do… (I assumed because of the 866 and possibly a restriction at work). So then I called it back from my personal cell… also… no-can-do… just a strange dial tone… It seems I cannot call that number (Perhaps a Canadian thing?).
Anyway, if one of you American fellas (or ladies) has 5 minutes and would like to do me a favor. Call Nicole and tell her to call me back, the number she provided will not work for me. (PM me if you actually want to and I’ll give her extension) ORRRRR If anyone from MS sees this… have her call me back lol (worth a shot right?)

Whats odd is that the 866 number you listed doesn’t return ANY google or bing results…

Maybe she wanted a date. I’d check your phone bill to see what charges that called add to it!

Thanks for the help… makes me wonder… she referenced things regarding an actual MS partnership program that I don’t think scammers/spammers would know about or have access to. She also gave me a URL (legit MS one) in lieu of calling her back, but I wanted to talk to a live person.
Anyway thank you all… odd… now I’ll never know if it was an elaborate scam or a conference I’m now going to miss lol

Maybe she wanted to go to the conference with you but then became shy…which prompted her to remove any traceable evidence of the call.
This kind of thing happens to me all the time

Comes back (for me) as a few different companies, sounds like it’s a callcenter hired by many large companies (including Microsoft and UPS)
OMG, we now have a loop started. Oh crap, Kris is gonna be mad!

Hah hah! Now it does! We’ve been buzzing about it long enough. It didn’t when I initially posted

I’ve gotten similar calls - usually about Microsoft Events they are having in the area. But the number usually shows a caller id of the company doing Microsoft’s bidding.

Step 1: Create a random phone number that nobody has.
Step 2: Ask people to call/look for it.
Step 3: Gain popularity and get to the top of Google’s results for that number.
Step 4: ???
Step 5: Profit.

Can you elaborate on Step 5 please…
I’m more than happy to take your post as “Advice” … but would need more detail on how exactly to profit from steps 1-4.

It’s from Season 2 Episode 17 of South Park. It is meant to have a gap between what you are doing and profit, but deep down you know there is some connection. You just have to find it.

Oops I forgot, Canadians don’t like South Park. I guess after all their insults to you guys I don’t blame you.

oh lol… I know many people who like South Park (yes Canadians) … I’ve seen a few episodes myself, but in my case you’d be right.
