So i just got a “very important” call. Seems my “Microsoft Windows License Key” has an issue and the “Windows Services” have been stopped by Microsoft. I better call the provided number quick!

In case you want to get a jump on your “Key & Services”, here is the number that called me and the number to call them back on. I know what i am doing when i get home.

Called me - 1-866-661-7058

Callback - 1-866-666-1758

tell them you run a Linux machine

Could that make any difference with my token ring passing through the Ethernet?

Ask them to help re-license your Windows CE device.

Tell them you tried cleaning up your Windows with Windex but it didn’t work. And that the Windows Services did not live up to their Yelp reviews so you’re switching to Mac and Cheese OS.

BTW would like to hear the play by play as you are trolling

It’s fun to mess with them on this too and play dumb.

“Yea, that one with the cute penguin or something.”

Lol. I have had that one and the you’ve got a virus calls.

I love playing with them.

But it appears they really read from a script most of the time, so no matter what my answer is they continue on their merry way.

I even tell them. I do not own a computer and I’m told repeatedly that they are contacting me because of my expired key or the virus I have.

Lately I’ve just followed along saying I’m doing what they ask and at some point they finally go away.

I had users who actually let people into their systems because of those calls and proudly called me to let me know they were getting it taken care of. Ugh.

Obviously my first response was unplug the network cable or turn off the system immediately and had them send me their systems for a complete wipe and reinstall.

It’s a crazy world out there.

I’ve been meaning to keep a Windows 95 VM around for these people when they call.

I doubt any remote tool would even run on 95 but if it did, that would be funny to watch them try and figure it out.

Go the whole hog & see if you can spin up a DOS 6 & Win 3.1 machine.

I tried but couldn’t get it working (TBH, I spent about 10 mins trying then my goldfish like attention span found something else shiny to play with).

Why not a windows 3.1 VM?

Every time I get these messages, I just say we are Amish and don’t use computer. I ask how the message appeared on my magna doodle and that my windows are always closed to prevent the cooler air from escaping the barn.

Record the audio and post. I would love to hear the conversation with people who are disgrace to India.

You definitely need to let us know what happens.
