Nap time in the office seems to be the new norm around here. Especially when projects are assigned with due dates of 3 months ago, and the nappers are overlooking 'Key" emails from you and not answering VM’s from vendors needing info…
I don’t have a question for anyone just needed a place to vent.
Thanks!

Did you get the voicemail I left you? There must be something wrong with your phone if you didn’t…

I sent you those technical documents in an email a few days ago, did you not get them? Check the filter.

A NASA study did find that people who take an hour nap at work, get more done in the other 7 hours then they would’ve otherwise.
Just saying

I would tend to agree, but when you come in at 1030 in stead of 0800 and sleep until lunch, then take a 2 hour lunch seems to be a bit extreme. Is that in the NASA study as well?

Only 2 naps per day that is absurd! I require a good 6 hours worth of naps with a break from the hard work for a 2 hour lunch…this is the recipe for success.
Or something like that
Sounds like an accountability issue. I find emailing them for the eighth time asking for their contribution of the project and references to the emails and voicemail dates/times with either their project manager or direct supervisor copied in get astonishing results.

I wish more companies had nap rooms. Right around 2pm sucks, regardless of how much caffeine I drink during the day.
Napping after ignoring responsibilities though is a problem. You could install a little buzzer under their desk, so when they fall asleep you can set it off to keep waking them up.

It’s stunning how effective this is! Last week we needed to release an emergency patch to our main software, so we emailed our testing group asking them to do the testing that day (Thursday), and asked them to let us know if they couldn’t complete the testing for any reason. One person let us know they couldn’t test, but the rest of the company is pretty slow right now so there was no excuse. Friday morning rolls around, and we received test results from one person. So we sent out a reminder. A second person sent over results. (The 2 people who sent results are 2 of my favorite people in the company to work with because they’re always on top of things.)
Friday afternoon, I need to make the decision on whether to install the patch without proper testing. Call my boss (CFO) and let him know virtually no one even got back to me, so he replies to our testing email with this:

I could not stop laughing after I read it. And after, almost every single person in the testing group replied to all with their apologies. We got all our test results on Monday from everyone else. Too little too late, but hopefully for the next emergency patch we won’t have an issue.

Yeah, it’s reaching 2pm here where I’m at, so I’m on the verge of crashing. I could go for a quick nap, I’d probably end up being a little more productive.
I think I’m definitely pro nap time. And so is the guy who invented (yes INVENTED) the power nap soooo… let’s start a movement…
“James Maas, a sleep expert and Cornell social psychologist who coined the term “power nap” 36 years ago, recommends employees nap for 15-minutes when they feel sluggish to restore a sense of vitality to the workday.”

That is fine and all, but this IS the manager that is doing this. Should it be brought to the CEO?

I’ve asked my boss for a designated nap time. She laughs, but that is as far as it goes.
