I was wondering if anyone had a newer version of the on-prem application? I found 7.5 from my last installation before this month, but the version I have doesn’t allow some apps to be downloaded… I need a newer version… does anyone still have the EXE file for 7.5.0.0.101 or later?

I have most versions released. If you send me a PM I will send you a link and you can grab the ones you need.

I’m sure you are aware, but this product is EOL and when MS turn off basic auth in October, emails will stop too.

  • What did you try to find the answer to your question?
  • Where did you get stuck in such trials?

Although I could not find a specific topic of the past two month on Spiceworks, I had no difficulties in finding still valid answers to your question by a simple web search. It does not need to use Google for such a simple web search to be successful.

The latest release is version 7.5.00107 and is of 2018. The download links published by Spiceworks no longer work since end of June 2022, a year later than reported in the EOL announcement of May 2021. I recently found a reply in a topic in the past two months reporting a never announced download path but can’t find it again. I only remember the first part of the URL and some elements of the URL. I saved it to my Spiceworks Collections but I couldn’t find it there. I thought that since end of June 2022, it would no longer be available by Spiceworks.

But there are well known public software repositories with a lot of freeware. And as this legacy edition is freeware, you might want to use the download option at SoftPedia . There is another repository with same version. There exist a few other repositories with older versions (7.5.00101, 7.5.00099 and 6.0).

Could it have been this one, where I also offered a link to the OP from my own personal archive if the version they wanted is not in the official download link.

I had found that topic which you referenced already before replying. But either the reply with a different URL was deleted or it was a different topic. The download link started also with download.spiceworks.com but was not downloading an archive but the correct Spiceworks.exe installer.

I don’t know how to search for referrer in Firefox browsing history.

But here is the seemingly undocumented download link to the installer of the discontinued legacy Windows edition on Spiceworks web site as found in my web browser browsing history.

If you cant get it from Rod I have 101 and 107. As well as older versions going way back.

Is there a work-around for keeping emails running?

It is a little heart-breaking to see this product put out to pasture when it had so much potential. And I miss Spiceworld conferences and was planning on attending this last one but it’s so hard to travel to a conference for a product that is coming to the end of its life.

The legacy Windows edition of Spiceworks keeps emails running. If you’ve a challenge with email use, then you’re probably using an email solution becoming incompatible with that legacy edition of Spiceworks. And as it is a legacy edition, it will not update to support more email solutions.

So if you use an on-premise email server, you may configure it to be compatible with this legacy edition of Spiceworks. Such an on-premise email server does not need all kind of extra features coming along with MS Exchange. Postfix MTA mail server is an example of such a powerful and manageable email server solution for Linux. It’s available also on similar operating systems. I did not check onto which other operating systems, this solution has been ported. I did not check if this solution supports running in a WSL environment if you don’t want to create an appliance as Linux VM although I expect it to be possible. But I would prefer an appliance as Linux VM.

The last edition of SpiceWorld was hybrid. So travelling was not required for attending. I did attend in the virtual part. The sessions of the virtual par remain available for 30 days. Registrations for the virtual part did not close with the end of SpiceWorld 2022 (two Fridays ago) (as Sean has emphasized in his closing note for those attending the conference in person). So it should still be possible to register and attend (the recordings) until (almost) end of this month. I did miss some sessions as I also had other activities during the conference and have to return to such missed recordings.
