I’ve used Spiceworks since v.5 and it has been an indispensable tool. I have turned up a new server and it needs to attach to an O365 mail account. I have tried everything in all the posts and even tried some unorthodox settings to no avail. I’m also reading that the “Spiceworks Desktop” software has ceased any development and no new updates have come out in quite some time.

What do people do when they need this type of installation? The cloud version is lacking much of the features that attracted me in the first place.

If we could get the office 365 login problems sorted, I will be totally happy, even without any further updating, I just need a functional server that handles inventory like it does.

Then it seems you’re coming late to register for the community. Or you returned with a different account.

Then you should read closer. E.g. the product roadmap not only reports that active development of the legacy Windows edition has finished back in 2018. It also reports the by end of this year, it will reach EOL.

  • So what’s the worth of setting up a new server for this legacy edition of Spiceworks, when it will remain usable less than 3 months?

They migrate to 3rd party solutions and some of them even remain with this community, even though such 3rd party solutions are either less integrated or less focused on SME. You may have a look into the post announcing EOL. In its comment section, several Spiceheads report which 3rd party solution they consider. So you’re not alone to find the feature set of the public cloud solution Spiceworks online inventory as insufficient. And as you may read in the product roadmap, the legacy edition is already disintegrating already for some time with more and more features becoming dysfunctional.
