With the way the economy is these days, I’m looking for simple ways/jobs to make a little extra money without directly working for someone.

One way is to donate plasma. You get paid $40-$70 for each session (1 session a month), which is about $500 extra a year.

Another option is to get paid for taking surveys online. http://www.earnontheside.com/ is a great website that provides detailed information and tips for those “get paid for survey” sites.

If y’all think of other simple ways of making money (without directly working for someone), please share!

Lol - is that the Renaissance Fair guy that goes around playing horrible music until you pay him to go away?

To bad we can’t spend spicepoints. :frowning:

It would be a good way to meet chick. Be their life saver by backing up their hard drive and replacing it with a new one, etc…

Get a bartending job. I know you mentioned where you’re not working for someone, but as long as you can drink while working it’s not bad at all, it’s more socializing with those you choose to be social with. Also try to get shifts when you’re not working with the owner/bar manager unless they are pleasant to work with. Very easy money, not as hard as it looks, or I’m just really bad at it. Try for a college bar in a tourist town, so then when schools out, still have customers. I did the home PC service gig, and it was more of a hassle than showing up at a bar 10-12 hours a week.

I do side work, but only for business. I refuse to do work for individuals. Way to much of a headache.

I like the bartender idea. I think it would be fun.

I have a lot of fun. Didn’t take a class, just went to the same bar for a few years same night every week, said if they ever wanted help I’d do it. Started as a barback/bouncer, hauling cases of beer, changing kegs, cleaning up a little, and was forced into making drinks one night form multiple barcrawls. You’ll learn how to make drinks over time, and always have a bartending/shot book handy, if someone doesn’t know what they want give them the book and let them pick something at random. That’s when the real fun starts. Only downside is lack of sleep, but that’s also excuse for lots of naps.

I fixed a laptop for a mate the other day, got paid in beer - the IT expert’s ‘foreigner’ currency of choice. Um, well, at least, it’s my ‘foreigner’ currency of choice

I know around here there is a prax study that alot of people do where they go in for like a weekend and take some experimental drugs and get paid like $1200 dollars just for one weekend. I would never do it who knows what there giving you but just saying if you had something around where you live that offered that, there is another option.

Wasn’t there a TV show on FX about that… Called Testties or some such name… Funny show…

No one has yet picked up that the guy has reached the desperation point where he’s selling his bodily fluids! (plasma)

I saw it, but had no comment to make on it.

Maybe that’s where the UK is going wrong. You don’t get paid to donate blood, and there is a shortage.

I do some mystery shopping, which really only pays expenses, but I do get some groceries or a meal at a restaurant. I also only do surveys if they pay cash.

Ive started to charge those on my sh1t list at work beer to do anything for them… works fairly well to be honest - Amazing how willing people are to part with stuff to get things done when yr paid to do it anyway…

Things are changing though. They are learning they don’t need blood for 99% of cases:
