I have a full time job but I am planning to create an IT ad on Google for any business or home user that needs support after hours or on weekends.

Do you think I will get work if my time is so limited? I don’t know if it’s even realistic but I wanted to see if anyone tried this before. I am not planning to have a website yet.

5 Spice ups

A lot of SMBs start as side work. When they grow to a certain capacity, people end up having to make the decision to do it full time or cut back. Go for it.

I tried this a couple of years back and had not one serious bite; (about one call every 45 days.) I found that people want you to work for free, practically, and I am not going to do this.

Just one warning though. Make sure you are bonded just in case you damage or destroy someone’s computer.

I doubt you will get many business clients. What business can wait till your regular job is over to get help? If they have an emergency they may start calling during regular hours and depending on your boss that might get you fired. I was once hired to replace a guy that let his side gig interfere with his full time job.

You could get home user clients but is that what you want? There are a thousand posts on Spiceworks advising against working for home users.

I had gotten into it by mistake in my early twenties when I used to frequent neighborhood bars. Someone asked if I could get rid of viruses on their PC and recover their data (massive amounts of porn).

Other bar patrons eventually discovered the services I provided and felt more comfortable with me servicing their PCs as opposed to a commercial service tech.

Apparently, people were willing to pay for confidentiality. Good luck.
