So I’ve used a Philips Hue Hub and various lights for years. Suddenly, none of my smart apps (Google Home / SmartThings) will detect the lights. I’ve factory reset the hub and the app finds it but when I try to discover lights, it won’t add them. I’ve tried manually entering the serial or scanning a QR code (if it has one) and nothing. I do notice that it often will say “Connecting To Bridge”…and it will not pill a Zigbee channel. It just times out and says Zigbee is not configured.

Beyond trying a new hub, any other suggestions? Should I disable my Google Home/Nest Hub and SmartThings hub for a moment to see if it will get a Zigbee channel?

I’m likely in right field on this and I’m not familiar with the apps or hardware you’re using, but thought I’d toss this idea out there for you anyway. I assume they’re wireless and likely connecting to 2.4 Ghz (maybe they’re newer and smarter than that). Did you bond any channels on that frequency or do anything else with wifi recently?

They are not 2.4 GHZ.. but the idea is correct. I have had occasionally weird issues with my Philp’s Hue over the years. things like using a wireless switch that suddenly won’t turn on the lights or operates with a huge delay. changing the channel the hub is using has always fixed it. So I would try that first.

Go into your Hue Hub and you will see Zibee channel under settings. from there you can follow the prompts to try another channel and see if it helps.

if there was another change right before this started with your Google Home/Nest Hub temporarily reverting it (or disable 3rd party integrations in the Hue Hub) to see if it fixed things would be on my list, but it wouldn’t be my first though since those items talk to your hub.

So bottom line, I tried a new Philips Hue Bridge and problem solved. Not sure what happened to the older one but it was 5+ years old. Maybe it was time.

My co-worker told me I didn’t need the Hue Bridge to add to Google Home / SmartThings but I truly couldn’t get them added back without the new bridge.

Give me a call we gonna talk some HOME ASSISTANT.

I used to use SmartThings for a long time and tried HA a few times before. I think HA is at a point now where every one should be using it instead of everything else.
