I dont know whats going on, but i’ve tried 4 different cables, 3 different phones (on different versions of android), 2 different computers (on different versions on windows), and not one combination will make the phone show up on the computer.

I used to just plug it in, get a notification on my phone that said its connected and choose if to file share or use to charge only, but now…not a single one will show up the notification and not one computer will detect any of the phones.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Personally device (laptop) or company?

When connected does it make the ‘usb’ sound? If so confirm in device manager that it shows and isn’t erroring.

On the phone, confirm what USB is configured to do, it may be set to charge mode only or music mode/photo mode, depending on the make and model.

{"@type":"Person
Rod-IT
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Rod-IT"}},{"@type":"Answer

Yeah that’s a weird one, especially since you’ve ruled out cables, phones, and computers. If none of them even show the USB options on the phone, sounds like something deeper is going on. It’s not likely to be DeX related unless you’re trying to use that specifically. File transfer should still work without it.

I’d check if developer options are enabled on the phones and see what the default USB config is set to. Sometimes it switches to “charge only” and won’t ask anymore unless you manually change it. Also maybe try a full restart on the phone and computer just to rule out a weird USB stack glitch.

Could also be worth reinstalling the USB drivers on the PC or trying a different port (especially if it’s USB 3 vs 2). Had something similar happen once and a random Windows update messed up the MTP driver.

{"@type":"Person
JohnFreeman
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/JohnFreeman"}},{"@type":"Answer

Yeah, that situation sounds super frustrating. You’ve tried pretty much everything, and when nothing works, it can really drive you up the wall. At this point, it might be worth reaching out to a tech expert or taking the devices to a repair shop—sometimes a fresh set of eyes can catch something we miss.

{"@type":"Person
spiceuser-gjduc
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/spiceuser-gjduc"}},{"@type":"Answer

You’ve listed everything that is different, now I would wonder what is the same.

Are all these PCs running the same OS and OS update?

With all the variation that you have tried, I would see if you can find a commonality between the different attempts. That commonality may provide some insight to your issue.

{"@type":"Person
ajason
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/ajason"}},{"@type":"Answer

Based on the context clues that it used to pop up and ask whether you wanted to file share or charge only this is an Android phone. I don’t have a lot of faith this will work but it’s worth a shot.

Go to Settings/About Phone then tap Build Number seven times to enable Developer Options then enable ADB Debugging in the newly added Developer Options.

{"@type":"Person
bytemeoftn
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/bytemeoftn"}},{"@type":"Answer
