I’ve recently installed Spiceworks on my test server. I can RDP into the server and log in to the Dashboard, but when I try to access the URL directly from my computer it times out.

=> I’ve checked the ports being used and added firewall rules

=> Since the server has two network cards I’ve tried accessing via http://{ipaddress}:{port}/dashboard as well as https://{ipaddress}:{ssl port}/dashboard

While the http://url works fine locally, only the https://url works from the desktop. Is this by design?

3 Spice ups

Not kidding when i say this but have you tried rebooting the server and logging back on. Occasionally after we run an inventory scan it locks up the helpdesk.

Rebooted a couple of times. Although it could be timing out because it is scanning. I’ve had to drastically reduce how frequent most of the scans are as it seemed every time I logged in it was running a scan.

What OS is your test server?

Spiceworks only needs to ports used open on the incoming settings of your firewall - you can validate this by disabling the firewall and re-testing

Hey Joanne - Were you able to access Spiceworks from your computer after disabling the firewall(temporarily) as Rod mentioned? That will help us determining if there is a conflicting rule perhaps preventing access.

I’ve had to stop working on it for the next week or so as I’m doing an emergency switch of MSP’s.

No problem. Let us know how things go once it settles down for you and if need any help!
