My spiceworks box is sitting on a non domain machine in a seperate segment of our network. I am scanning my corporate windows domain network from this monitoring network.
I dont have DNS setup in the monitoring network so i have WMI to use IP addresses. that worked fine. However i still get a few machines that now give me
“There was a Windows authentication error when attempting to connect to this device.”
its odd because if i manually use the WMIC command to get the serial number from the machines its complaining about it works fine. If i go to the machine in spiceworks and select the account and test, it fails.
Any ideas?

Hi George is this still an issue? Just to confirm you DO get the serial# from the WMIC on those machines in question?
If so, are you using the hostname or IP address for the “node” in the WMIC command?
Thanks
