In the SW settings for AD I cannot get it to authenticate with my server.

I have tried different variations of the username/password.

No SSL that I know for sure.

A few versions ago of SW it used to work…if that means anything.

Thanks

Have you tried using the IP address of the AD server for the name? Just to be sure you tried for the user name: domainname\administrator

I will try that.

IP Address does not work either.

Could it be because the SW application was installed under local admin user and not with domain admin user?

Wouldn’t think so but you could try creating a mapped drive to the server.

Mapped drive works fine.

Originally the helpdesk server was stand alone, then I joined it to the domain after I realized the AD sync was not working (in case it mattered).

hmm…You might need to contact Spiceworks support .

I just installed SW fresh on my desktop and it works…must be something messed up in the config settings I restored from a backup.

Thanks much.

Chris

Re-installed SW on the server, connected to AD successfully and restored the db files from backup…only to find the AD setting removed.

Now back to same situation…unable to authenticate the user.

I give up… :frowning:

Something is @#%#@ in the db. You probably need to send your log files to SW support to get to the bottom of it.

The problem was in the ‘additional settings’.

All is working now.

Cheers

Always forget about the additional settings. Glad you got it working!

what exactly was the problem in additional settings?

I’ve just moved my install from a desktop test machine, to a member server, and now it wont auth with AD and its driving me nuts.

Previously I was messing around with the base DN and such so I cleared them back to defaults and it connected. The attached image is what my advanced settings look like now (working).

Hope that helps.
