I have a user using a Surface Pro 2 device. He has all of a sudden started having issues with his touch cover keyboard. It seems that the mouse on the cover still works but the actual keyboard on the cover is not functioning. I have tried the usual elementary troubleshooting attempts.

  • Power cycle the device
  • Detach and reattach the keyboard
  • Swap with another touch cover keyboard (resulted in same symptoms)

Are there any other troubleshooting or possible fixes that I can explore? The hardware is at one of our remote offices so I cannot physically get my hands on it easily.

Whups, missed you’d swapped keyboards. If the contacts are clean, time to send the tablet in for service.

Here is a list of troubleshooting things you can try (aside from those that Brian already mentioned).

This happened to me with a Surface 2. Turned out it was the keyboard, and I got a warranty replacement. But if you’ve already tried swapping that out, it gotta be something with the tablet.
