Hello-We have a collection of IT projects on the horizon and we’re looking at new Project Management software and wondering if there were any good recommendations that other people are currently using.

We use JIRA from Atlassian ( Jira | Issue & Project Tracking Software | Atlassian ). You can try it for free and though it seems pretty simple at first, it does allow you to get as detailed as your project requires.

To me this is a pretty broad question, as the software that will suit you best depends on your needs and how you actually manage projects.
That being said there are couple options that I’ve used before:
All these provide different levels of depth, and functionality. Some have better collaboration, some have better mobile accessibility. It will depend on how your organization wants to manage projects.

For a technical team? IT Central Station users recommend Jira or Micro Focus ALM. You can see the comparison page here: https://www.itcentralstation.com/products/comparisons/jira_vs_micro-focus-alm/tzd/c407-sf-25
Microsoft Planner is fairly new in Office 365 and I quite frankly like it’s simplicity. Make a task, assign it, check up on it, add meetings to the group Calendar. Check it out: https://products.office.com/en-us/business/task-management-software

Atlassian Jira is the best for project management, Ticketing, help-desk and many more. We are really enjoying Jira for project management. You give a try.
Personally, I found JIRA to be too complex and bulky for my needs. We are a small IT shop and I wanted a project management tool that I could see an overview of my projects, see the tasks associated with those projects, create a user support request, and view the data as a spreadsheet or kanban board. JIRA, Trello, Asana, Basecamp were too restrictive.
I use project management software called AirTable. ( airtable.com ) It is highly customizable and I change/create all sorts of views of my data that I need. If you want to see some examples of how I have set this for my personal department. Shoot me a PM and I can send you some screenshots.
This may sound snarky – certainly not my intention – but how much do you know about project management already? The PM level of maturity may drive your decision. One thing that I would imagine that would be of benefit to IT Techs taking on PM work is a toolset that provides some guidance on how to run a project (ie methodology). Also, if you’re doing client work you will need to make sure you are covering expectations and doing all and only the work agreed upon.

I am currently using a free web based tool called Fluxes . It has every feature I need. So I am really happy with it.
We are a SaaS startup. We are using TaskQue for managing projects. It helps our project managers to monitor team and project performance. I would suggest you to try it aleast. Its free for managing team of 10 people. and later on charges 5$ per user. So. its not a bad deal at all.
