I’ve been trying to get the remote collector to work for close to 6 months and it still does not work. Does anyone have any knowledge on how this works? Any information about this subject will be greatly appreciated.

Some more info on the exact problem (or problem) will help.
Setting up a RC usually takes 5-10 minutes.
When troubleshooting remote and central site collector issues I notice there is no collector*.log file on either host. Issue I am having is the remote site collector continues to scan for days, only asked to scan 5 IPs. The data is never pushed to the central server even though the remote collector appears to be connected - confirmed connectivity
I also have a ticket in for spiceworks support #172065

Yasaf is correct, the set up should only take a few minutes. Is the remote site successfully connected to the central site? The scan schedules are controlled by the central site, so the scans on the remote site will run based on the schedule you have set up in the central site.
Also, I looked up that ticket and it appears it was closed. We sent over a few emails with no response, did you receive them?
yes, I received many emails all of which were replied to as well. I also spoke with Alex Wykoff from Spiceworks. At this time my issue has not been resolved.

I’m happy to help, what exactly is happening?
Remote collector is scanning specific IP addresses continually and yet nothing is being uploaded to the central server. Connection between systems has been verified.
Does anyone know who the remote collector developer is? Maybe we should try and get him involved as well.

Please try the following when you get a chance:
- browse to settings > network scan > your networks on the central server
- make sure the remote device IPs are not included in these ranges
- browse to the central server’s inventory and delete the device
- log into the remote collector and browse to settings > network scan
- check the box next to the scan range for the device in your screenshot
- uncheck the boxes next to any other scan range
- click “Start Scan”
You can monitor the scan’s progress on the “/scan” page on the remote collector- let me know if the device gets added to the central server’s inventory once the scan completes.
I’m sorry this took so long. I have completed all of your steps to no avail. I do however see a device on the Central Server from the Remote Collector but there is no information on the device. It gives the name and IP address but no other information. Central Server cannot get anymore information because it cannot scan the device. Unless I am wrong, I think that the Central Server would have all the information pertaining to the device (unless the remote server is only sending over the name). I can turn off the remote collector and can view all of the information on the remote server (cannot view information with the remote collector turned on). Is there anything else we can try?
