One of my 3 servers are showing up as an unknown.

The Server in question is the DC with Exchange.

The Error Message spiceworks is getting is “There was a Windows authentication error when attempting to connect to this device.”

i followed the troubleshooting and used the command to test WMI

c:\\ wmic /user:username /password:yourpassword /node:remotemachine
systemenclosure get serialnumber

This command worked and gave me the serial number of the machine. which confirms the user/pass is correct.

not sure where to go from here.

thanks in advance.

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

That is indeed odd. The WMI worked when run on the SpiceWorks server itself?

I would try deleting the machine and having it picked up fresh.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

Hi,

i did get it working,

i have removed the machine from the list and changed the user logged into the machine which runs spiceworks. i also changed the credentials to FQDN.

im not sure which one worked but i think it was the change in user that was logged in that did it.

i will do further testing.

{"@type":"Person
ianhinspeter5862
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/ianhinspeter5862"}},{"@type":"Answer
