I have 5 computers on our network that are not communicating with SpiceWorks. When I scan them, I get the following errors back; “No open ports for this device were found to be responding.” and “Windows WMI port not open, firewall problem?”. I have searched both on the SpiceWorks help and online and I have tried the troubleshooting steps suggested and nothing is fixing the problem. Most of the machines are Windows XP, one is Windows 7 that I am having these problems with. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. The only thing I haven’t tried yet is uninstalling our Anti-Virus software, which I might give this a try today, but I find it strange that it would be that, all our computers have the same Anti-Virus software and all the same policies so I don’t know what would be causing some to scan and some not.

Thanks,

Paula

Read each header in there as many but not all will apply to what you are seeing. AV can cause problems with the scans and can act much like a firewall and block SW. WMI could also be your problem, and step 5 of the above posted has a few scripts you can try running against the machines to repair it.

let me know
