Hi,

I have a few users which show up in my software list as having both Office 2003 and Office 2007.

They used to have Office 2003 until I uninstalled it and installed Office 2007.

Can you tell me why Spiceworks thinks they still have both and if there are any fixes for this, other than removing entries from the registry.

Thanks

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

I have found a way of removing a part of the registry to stop Spiceworks from scanning an incorrect install for Office 2003 (without removing other registry entries)

Delete this value ProductID - Rescan the machine = Happy IT staff

e.g.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Office\\11.0\\Registration{XXXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}]

“ProductID”=“XXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXX”

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

As far as I know the only fix is a registry clean. Microsoft does a very dirty job of uninstalling, leaving registry keys all over the place. As Spiceworks scans the registry for installs, it finds these old keys and thinks the product is still installed. Try something like Revo Uninstaller to do a proper job of the uninstall process.

{"@type":"Person
b0b
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/b0b"}},{"@type":"Answer

As b0b said, the only way is to clean up the registry (Best Registry Cleaner).
