I’m having trouble with sharing an office document from a shared folder on my server. When my users open the document it opens as read only and they can’t save any changes. The documents properties doesn’t seem to have any read only restrictions selected. Any ideas what the problem might be? Assuming the server is Windows (NTFS) you have two sets of permissions you need to check.<\/p>\n
NTFS - check that domain users have read/write access to the file (or directory).<\/p>\n

Check the folder location for a file with a ~ in front of the name. This is generated when the file is opened or shared. Delete that file and see if this solves your issues…<\/p>\n

Also if someone else has the file open it will ask them if they want it open in Read Only.<\/p>\n
