As we announced, there may be periods where the site is accessible publicly while we evaluate the migration associated with this re-platforming.

TL;DR – Ignore our mess, we’re still working here but should be done soon (vs Soon™). Thank you for your patience!

The site is back up for me, but I’m realizing… Did the daily trivia go away with the new version of the site? I’d kind gotten used to that being part of my coffee routine!

Hi @bravnyr , Daily Challenge did not make it over (at least not yet). If you haven’t read it yet, I’d recommend checking this out where we give a breakdown of a lot of the changes:

I’ll admit up front that I haven’t read anything about the new “site.” So far, it’s the visual equivalent of radio static.

Did the ability to mute people go away? Please say it ain’t so.

Why doesn’t my feed present in reverse chrono order? I’m seeing posts from 1 minute ago and 2 years ago juxtapositioned.

Oh, and thanks for the 1000s of messages lauding me as it (I assume) re-processed every post I’ve ever made.

Hi @Robert5205 !

Mute is still there. You can mute a member, a topic, a category, and tags. To mute someone, go to their profile and you should see a ‘normal’ dropdown menu. When you expand that, you will see ‘Muted’ and "Ignored’.

You can sort Your Feed (and other areas) chronologically via “Activity”. That said, to your point, we’re still baking (well, really "rebaking) the update. Once everything was migrated over, there are some tasks that are running due to the sheer amount of content migrated over. Why we’re still in our maintenance window.

And yeahhh, I know what you mean. For the most part, I went to my Notifications (avatar) menu and used the ‘Dismiss’ option at the bottom of certain sections to start clean.

I hope that helps and you’re having a good weekend.

Sounds as if you’ve got it covered. I’ll have to stumble my way through it for a while.

I do have one major complaint. The scroll bar next to the posts (timeline?). Shows month and day, but not year. It’s frustrating to look at it and not know what decade you’re in. If 'YY could be added to that, I’d cancel the disparagement I’m planning for that item.

I don’t know if that’s possible, but I’ll log a ticket and we can get someone to take a look.

[Edit] Looks like that’s already been solved!

Looks like it already does what you want, if you go back to a post from a previous year it shows the year. Looks like it doesn’t show if the post is from the current year.

Thanks, @computerdave , here’s a good example if anyone is looking for one where it is all old dates:

And this one by @Suzanne-Spiceworks shows past and present years:

Hmm. That was fast. If everything works like this, I’ll have to think of some more things to ask for!

Am I missing something, or is there no way to preview / view the contents of a topic without clicking through? Just trying to find out if that changed or if its just a layer 8 problem…

Went to a user profile to mute someone and the profile says, “This user is suspended.”

What does a user (who isn’t me) have to do to be suspended? Is it a permanent suspension or do they ever get unsuspended? Is there a suspension review board, similar to a parole board, that reviews these cases periodically?

Just curious.

As far as I know, I do not believe it gives you a preview mode in the topic listing. That might be a configuration, though, as I do know you can see previews when putting an inline link, such as:

Let me add that to my list of things to look into. Thanks for calling this out!

It depends on the situation (honestly!). We have some accounts we will never unsuspend (and may eventually get hard deleted) – spammers are a good example of this. Sometimes an account is suspended when a member wants to close their account, and we’ve had times where they’d come back (even years later), and ask us to reverse that. It can also be used as a, ahem, “cooling off” tool.

Outside of (traditional) spammers, we do try to use this as more of a last resort. Sometimes it takes just having a real conversation with someone so we can all discuss what is going on, see each other’s points of view, and coming to a conclusion. Most times, that actually can solve or at least de-escalate the issue. But that is not always the case.

Going to tag @Suzanne-Spiceworks into this one in case I got anything wrong (it happens!) or I missed anything.

Good enough explanation. I found it interesting based on the posts I was reading that they wound up “suspended.” Now I know it follows a visit to the principal’s office.

Here’s the problem. When I go to the profile, it says “muted.” But I still see the person’s replies in the threads. I used to see just an ellipsis.

The “mute” says I won’t receive notifications about them. But I still have to see the posts?
