Looks like it already does what you want, if you go back to a post from a previous year it shows the year. Looks like it doesn’t show if the post is from the current year.

What does a user (who isn’t me) have to do to be suspended? Is it a permanent suspension or do they ever get unsuspended? Is there a suspension review board, similar to a parole board, that reviews these cases periodically?

Just curious.

As far as I know, I do not believe it gives you a preview mode in the topic listing. That might be a configuration, though, as I do know you can see previews when putting an inline link, such as:

It depends on the situation (honestly!). We have some accounts we will never unsuspend (and may eventually get hard deleted) – spammers are a good example of this. Sometimes an account is suspended when a member wants to close their account, and we’ve had times where they’d come back (even years later), and ask us to reverse that. It can also be used as a, ahem, “cooling off” tool.

Outside of (traditional) spammers, we do try to use this as more of a last resort. Sometimes it takes just having a real conversation with someone so we can all discuss what is going on, see each other’s points of view, and coming to a conclusion. Most times, that actually can solve or at least de-escalate the issue. But that is not always the case.

Going to tag @Suzanne-Spiceworks into this one in case I got anything wrong (it happens!) or I missed anything.

Good enough explanation. I found it interesting based on the posts I was reading that they wound up “suspended.” Now I know it follows a visit to the principal’s office.

Here’s the problem. When I go to the profile, it says “muted.” But I still see the person’s replies in the threads. I used to see just an ellipsis.

The “mute” says I won’t receive notifications about them. But I still have to see the posts?

Ah, I see. I know it’s just my old eyes, but the new layout (no clear divisions, thin grey or teal lines and text) is difficult. Once I can “ignore” the extraneous posts, I’ll have some more time to dedicate to figuring out the intuitive interface. Thanks!

Sorry if this has been covered before, but I can’t actually find anything on the new site… How do I see the topics that I am subscribed to? That used to be my normal landing page, so I could easily see which ones had replies.

I don’t like to use the notifications because there were always hundreds of them, and it’s hard to filter out what I wanted to see, so the subscribed topics page made that easy.

Hey @DailyLlama , no worries! I’m sure we’re all going to have a lot of questions. There are a few answers to this one.

First, there is your Feed which works differently the the one in the classic, vintage Community platform. It should show you what has been updated since last you came to the community platform based on what you are tracking

Now, a couple ‘tricks’ I’ve found it using the Search, as well (as this search is pretty good). If you use the advanced search filters, you can do some fun things. I actually have two bookmarked that I’ve been trying out:

I’m really trying not to fall into the “I liked this, and you changed it so now it’s trash” group but I came here normally for fun and to maybe find some articles/topics that I’d like to learn a bit more about. However, it’s a jumbled mess of clutter and I’m not currently wanting to learn something new that was a hobby before. What was the catalyst in the change? Were people voicing a displeasure with how things were working? Something I’ve tried to wrap my head around since I’ve started my path in IT. Why are things changed for no other reason than what feels like “I haven’t messed with this in a while”?

I’m already anticipating a reply I don’t want to hear on this, but…

The “My Feed.” I want to see a list of new topics in the order they are made. In the same way I read a book going from page 1 to n.

Instead, the order appears to be based on “activity” - meaning topics that I’ve already noted keep bubbling to the top of the list. New topics get pushed down because no one is “activating” them. This is like reading a book while someone keeps turning it to random pages in front of you.

I’m not ADD, but this appears to be a credible simulation of what it must be like to not have things progress in an orderly fashion. This isn’t a stock ticker where changes have to be noted in real time.

I’m sure there’s a simple one-button way to set this to “chrono,” right?
