I decided to rebuild my spiceworks database recently as it has been up for a few years now and we’re not using lots of devices we used to and I also thought, that it might speed up the performance (and it did ! ) That led me to taking a close look at what actually was discovered and I found some problems that I can’t seem to deal with. For example I have devices on a separate subnet - PSUs to be exact that have SNMP enabled and I can run a simple snmpwalk from the same server which holds my spiceworks install and it does return lots of data, so I know SNMP does work on those devices and firewall is not blocking the traffic. Played with this a bit, changed the community strings a few times, nothing really happens. The devices are simply not being detected at all.
The issue I’m having is I think similar to this one :
http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/425996-error-creating-snmp-session-when-other-snmp-tools-work-fine?page=1
and I was kind of wondering if any one has any ideas before I send a support request
oh, right, not sure if that’s relevant, but the devices use SNMP v1 and I tried elaving them on “public” community string, I tried using “private” as well and custom strings, none seem to work.
Just updated to ver. 7.1 - the issue is still there
EDIT: just remembered I have the issue for my firewall, that is on my main subnet and uses SNMP v2c - snmpwalk gives a reply, but spiceworks says “Error creating SNMP session.”

Hey, I just emailed you with instructions on how to send a copy of your Spiceworks logs so I can take a look.

Hey Guys,
There unfortunately wasn’t a resolution on this one - the ticket went cold.
That being said, please feel free to email support@spiceworks.com if you’re experiencing a similar scan issue with this device and we can help troubleshoot!
