I was contacted by Microsoft to do a full audit of all software and os’s on my network, My question is simple, can I use Spice-works to crate a database of all computers and what software they have installed along with the license keys for that software? I have seen I can go to each computer and see this information but I would like a spreadsheet or database of all my computers software and keys.

if spice-works cannot do this does any one have a suggestion of software that can?

I’m quite sure this company is way out of compliance so this should be fun…

!@#$#!# MICROSOFT! :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks

Ryan

That’s exactly what Spiceworks is good at. Setup a network scan and let it give you all the information you need. You can create all sorts of reports after a scan is done.

On a related note, I thought Microsoft provided a tool they want you to use for audits?

Ryan, I would search the SW community. This is not the first time this issue has came up and there was some good information. One post was actually from a vendor posing on behalf of MS. You do have to take this serious and I don’t think SW is legally binding. You may have to use the MS auditing tool.

Edit:

OK I shouldn’t have been so lazy, there is the post I was thinking of http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/152375-anyone-else-get-an-e-mail-action-license-reconciliation-data-requested
