Hi,

I’ve had Visio installed on PC1 a long time ago.

Now I’ve uninstalled this since. Checked add/remove programs and used the Windows Install Clean up.

Spiceworks still picks this up as being installed.

I’ve tried this with a new install of Spiceworks as well - same result.

I have the same issue with multiple PCs

Using 4.7.5.

Thanks.

2 Spice ups

Which version of Visio?

Which OS? XP?

I’ll try to check tomorrow if that info matches what I have in inventory.

OS - XP SP3

This occurs with Visio 2003 SP3 and Visio 2007 for me.

This is because M$ doesnt remove all keys in the registry at uninstall/upgrade. Youll need to clean the registry at the affected machines.

SW reads the registry [HKLM\Software] to detect installed software.

Ditto

Where abouts is it looking for the key exactly ?

Nothing really standing out in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office

Thanks

MS Office versions:

12.0 - Office 2007

11.0 - Office 2003

10.0 - Office 2002

To remove Visio 2003 from registry - look at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\Office\11.0

There should be a folder “Visio” delete/rename it. NOTE: keep the folder “Common”.

You could do it also with tools like Speed up, optimize and clean your PC for free | CCleaner for PC. (Best Registry Cleaner)

Read also this: Remove office2003 from registry

no entry for visio there :frowning:

Try a registry cleaner of your choice (here again a list: Best Registry Cleaner)
