Hi guys and gals!

Is it just me, or does it seem like there is more and more spam accounts here on spiceworks?
Seeing all sorts of weird titled posts with a crap ton of links.
Huh.
I’m tempted to click on them

Hey!

We do get a lot of SPAM on Spiceworks, but we do work pretty hard to try and get on top of any posts that do make it through the various filters that are setup to catch them before they make it through.

Please do report posts you see as SPAM so that we can get rid of them ASAP.

We have lots of Mods, from all around the world on here, so there’s usually someone relatively closeby who can deal with these things, but remember we don’t get paid for this, so our paid jobs do come first

Cheers!

I think the issue is that even though the spam posts are removed, they still hang out in the feed. Clicking on the link to any of the posts will take you to 404 land.

For some reason, it seems that the people who still use the old version of the feed don’t have this problem. No idea why, but it’s been discussed on other threads and the majority of people who use the old version simply don’t see those.

It happens on every forum. Probably always will. The mods will take care of them. It has been a lot worse lately though.

They usually attack in burst. Sadly once a couple get through it encourages them more.

How do we know you’re not a spam account too?

“I’m tempted to click on them” then you’re part of the problem. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, that’s a bug we just discovered in the past few days, depending on how the spammer was nuked.

Spammers always show up no matter what you do to stop them, but Spiceworks folks tend to stop them quickly.

I do generally click on them and report them, sometimes they vanish in mere minutes.

I use the old feed and do not have this issue. I am worried about the “You will be upgraded soon” msg though.

6 Spice ups

Yeah, in my head I call that the “Windows protocol message”. You will be upgraded, you may or may not like it overall, you do not have a choice.

I’m still using the old version and I haven’t seen one spam post.

1 Spice up

Yeah I use the old version and this spam problem is news to me. I’m thinking I’m alright with missing that sort of thing though while it lasts.

Shout out to all the mods here. <3

I’ve seen those posts a well, and when I want to report them I see they’re already deleted, but still in the feed. The point is kudos to the mods for deleting them pretty fast!
