Today was a big day in computer history, as on this day in 1946, John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert unveiled the ENIAC computer for the first time, though it wouldn’t be officially dedicated until the next day. Able to perform 5000 calculations per second, 1000 times faster operation than its contemporaries, and occupying only 1500 square feet of space, the ENIAC was a marvel of its time. Read more here

Microsoft has officially launched its latest operating system, Windows 14, which promises to bring a new level of interoperability between Windows and Apple devices. The release of Windows 14 comes after years of rumors and speculation, and it is being hailed as the most significant update in the history of the Windows platform.

The latest generation Intel processor provides the foundation for several new security features in Windows 14. One of the most notable features is a new “Dynamic Defense” system that uses artificial intelligence to detect and prevent cyber threats in real-time. The system uses the latest processor technology to analyze data and identify potential security threats, and it can automatically respond to prevent any damage to the system or user data.

In addition to the new security features, Windows 14 offers seamless integration with Apple devices. Users can now access their Windows files and apps from their Apple devices, and they can also transfer files and data between the two platforms with ease. Microsoft has also introduced a new feature called “Microsoft Stream” which enables users to stream their Windows apps to their Apple devices, allowing them to work seamlessly across platforms.

In addition to the new security features and interoperability with Apple devices, Microsoft has also introduced a new, more intuitive AR interface in Windows 14. The AR interface utilizes cutting-edge technology to create an immersive and interactive user experience. Users can now use hand gestures and voice commands to control their devices and interact with their apps and files in a more natural and intuitive way. The AR interface also provides new opportunities for productivity, as users can now work with virtual objects in a 3D environment and collaborate with others in real-time. Microsoft’s new AR interface is set to change the way people think about and interact with technology, making it more accessible and user-friendly for everyone.

The launch of Windows 14 has been met with great excitement from users and the technology industry, and it is expected to revolutionize the way people interact with technology. Microsoft has once again shown its commitment to providing innovative and secure solutions that meet the needs of users in a fast-changing world.

FIRST!!!

Love both the QoTD & the Comic

And no Music-related events today, so I’m going with this:

Oh- and a big THANK YOU Spiceworks for whomever righted my picture.

(I was almost getting used to being slightly crooked)

Good thing you reminded me about next week!

My granddad used to have a mini weather station in his garden, and my brothers and I would do exactly that (when we were under 10). Fill up the rain gauge, make the anemometer spin round more than it should have, or jam something in it to stop it turning altogether. He had diaries with hundreds of days of records, and had to record the days we were visiting in a different colour pen so that he knew not to take them as gospel truth.

I’m not even sure why he did it, to be honest…

Where would people be without this?

I didn’t mean to make a joke with that line, but I’m not going to change it.

Man alive, astronomy must’ve been challenging in 1747. My guess is he’d have to chart the movements of the stars and notice a spiral pattern?

Also, Freddy D’s birthday? Neat. He threw down pretty hard in ERB. Language warning, as is the case in most of these, but enjoy if you’re able:

Shame we have to wait until Windows 14 for an intuitive AR UI. xD

Good luck on the new job. You’ll have to tell us all about it in the next-next week’s Spark!

(And I am one of those weirdos that doesn’t like chocolate unless its surrounding giant gooey gobs of caramel!)

Was he a farmer by any chance?

Prompt:
write me a fictitious rant set in the future about why I'm not upgrading to Windows 14 in the tone of a salty elitist.
Listen, I'm not upgrading to Windows 14 for a reason. Why should I waste my time and money on something that doesn't improve my productivity or enhance my user experience? I've got everything I need on my current system, and I don't see the point in fixing something that isn't broken.

Sure, there may be a few security risks, but that's nothing a good antivirus can't handle. And as for compatibility issues, I've got my trusty old hardware that's been working just fine for years.

So while all you sheep mindlessly upgrade to the latest version, I'll be sitting pretty with my tried-and-true system that gets the job done. Maybe someday you'll see the light and join me in the land of sensible technology choices. But until then, I'll be here, smug and satisfied
