I didn’t have a Walkman at least not until they came out with the CD version. Nope, I had a knock off made by a company named Craig. But, that Craig, played hours and hours of music. I believe it still worked when I threw it out years later, when I got the Sony Diskman. And that thing was infuriating. If you breathed too closely to it, it would skip. Ah… the good old days. Anyway read on and see why I am reminiscing.

Just a reminder, if you are reading the Spark!, Spice it up. We like it spicy here!

Excellent Spark. I actually read it first this time. First twice in one week? Impressive. I had a cassette Sony Walkman, and later a Sony Discman. Loved my Walkman. The Discman skipped like crazy.

Inspirobot: All we need to be free is success… and apparently beer. And I’m okay with that.

Being truly free is its own success, Inspirobot. And if good beer is part of it, so much the better.

Great Spark! I appreciate the links.

How about if I drive someone else’s Corvette to work? Does that count? Now I just have to find a Corvette that I can “borrow” for the day.

Bier Macht Frei?

I remember having a Craig that was a tape player and a radio. That thing was great until I bought a CD player. I had a mount in my car for it and 3.5mm to cassette tape so I could play CDs in my car.

I had an Emerson “walkman” first. It too was near indestructible. Looks like we lost a lot of talent on this day. I forgot Wolfman Jack died all the way back in '95.

Phoenix Program - Without it, we wouldn’t have had Riggs.

2 Spice ups

I had a Sony Minidisk Walkman if that counts?

3 Spice ups

I had many cheaper versions of the walkman before I bought one with my own money. I had one with a digital tuner, and that had the auto-reverse function on the tape player. The best part was the anti-rolling mechanism that stopped it chewing the tapes when the batteries started to run flat.

Some quick research tells me it’s the WM-FX423 model, with “mega bass” and 20 radio station presets. Living the dream back in 1992…

my friend had the sony walkman with 2 (yes two!!) earphone sockets so you and a friend could listen at the same time!

The Marlon Brando quote is the perfect QOTD being Friday and Payday for a bunch of people.

5 Spice ups

I originally had a Walkman that had radio and played tape decks then I had a Sony CD Walkman player later on (I had to earn the money for it) similar to this one: Amazon.com

It had AM/FM radio and played CDs even the ones that I copied on my PC. I think it also had two headphone jacks too… I still have but I think it is worn out and broken.

Happy Birthday Dan Aykroyd!

God Bless Walter Matthau and Marlon Brando!

Oooo Jambalaya! I’ll make a non-spicy version for me.

The QOTD is wise.

Inspirobot actually makes a decent point right there.

2 Spice ups

Inspirobot - truer words have never been generated.

4 Spice ups

Excellent Spark! as always.

Inspirobot: Just replace that disgusting beer with cider, and I’ll believe you.

So, it’s International Joke Day, eh? Why tell jokes when we have a living joke who currently resides in 10 Downing Street.

3 Spice ups

I loved my Walkman! After that I had one of the Discman’s that had the 30 second buffer, I used to shake it on purpose to try to get it to skip. Ahh, those were the good ole days, lol.

5 Spice ups

I had both the tape and the disc version of the Walkman. I wore the cassette one out I used it so much.
