On the Menu: Corn Dogs

Hey all, RTHelpdesk1 here! Sorry for the late post, it’s been a fun morning! Glad to be with you this BEAUTIFUL afternoon here in Central PA- the sky is blue, the clouds are fluffy, and honestly it’s one of the best day’s it’s been for a long long time. Glad to be a part of this good world today, as good as can be.

So, what do I bring for you today? Fair food. OK, due to COVID-19, we’re not allowed to be near each other in case we might die. So, do I offer you for your in-home consolation? CORN DOGS!

To quote the former Susan from SW, “You want a Recipe? You’ve got a recipe!”

Corn Dog’s to Hold you over!

Comic of the Day:

Mouseover: “If you want to see the polling questions we agree on MOST, you can check out Chapter 24 of my book How To, where I got the Roper Center on Public Opinion Research to help me design the world’s least electable political campaign platform.”

To moke or not to moke

These idiots who think that Covid-19 is just a ploy to tank the economy or whatever else they are saying (I’ve heard some doosies!) are every bit as stupid as the engineer I once worked with that refused to believe his computer was infected with the Michelangelo virus. He said “Show it to me,” so I showed him the antivirus report on his screen. His response? “That’s just words on the screen. I don’t believe that.” He believed it when it triggered and re-formatted his HDD.

Elon Musk should have used Inspirobot’s font when he named his child, X Æ A-12

I’ve never done either. Probably…

mmm corn dogs , not had them in ages

You know what nobody is talking about anymore? The cheating Houston Astros… I maintain they started this whole mess to deflect the conversation.

I’ve also heard some doosies. One of the early ones, just before the stay at home orders started happening: “Sounds like they’re about to declare martial law. The [opposing major political party of the person speaking] will love that!”

Right after Trump tweeted his infamous “liberate MN” tweet, we had crowds demanding the Governor reopen the state immediately. One woman interviewed stated the Governor had to reopen the state immediately, because she couldn’t get to her stylist to re-dye her hair.

I used to moke arijuana when I was younger.

Those are some skewed polls. I don’t really trust any of the sources for those numbers. Just south of you in Maryland, we’re protesting constantly. The only thing I think America is unified on now, is our belief in how incompetent our government is at almost every level.

On the COVID-19 situation, without getting overly political (it’s sad that this is a political topic at all, really), what floors me is when you have leading scientists and experts saying one thing and somehow JimBob on Facebook reading infographics has more knowledge on the subject and knows what’s best for our country.

Experts say “we shouldn’t open things up prematurely” and a small, uninformed group of people protest because they need a haircut. It’s one thing to be mindful of the importance of an economy, it’s another to be viciously irresponsible because you personally are frustrated. Do you know who is going to be super frustrated once we open back up prematurely? The tens to hundreds of thousands who died for your haircut.

I’m as eager as everybody else to get out of my house and back out into the world again but let’s stop grabbing our (literal) rifles and protesting because of political conspiracies. Let’s let the experts, not the politicians, be at the forefront of guiding us through this. Politics will obviously be involved but let’s not make this into a political firestorm of a topic like we sadly have done with other important issues in the past. All this does is immediately build two equally dumb teams of “experts” fighting against each other when we should just be listening to those who actually are experts.

I think the old adage that there are three kinds of lies needs to be updated. There is a fourth kind of lie, and that is polls. It doesn’t really matter who runs them, you can ALWAYS get the results you want from judicious phrasing of the questions, or by polling a specific “random” population. XKCD definitely selected his polls from polling organizations that are strongly of one political persuasion. Other sites select different ones and get significantly different results. Neither is an accurate reflection of overall opinion, let alone some kind of greater “truth” about things.

Fortunately, they are all just people’s opinions. Unfortunately, too many people take significant blocs of opinion as somehow authoritative. (Right up there with getting your opinions and information from celebrities.)

It is unfortunate that this whole Covid-19 thing has been so politicized by pretty much every pol [sic]. Sadly, I don’t see that changing any time soon.

Seems those polls are a striking example of people telling pollsters what they think their opinion is supposed to be rather than their actual opinion.

I can’t help but think Inspirobot has given up and is wandering the empty streets wondering where all the people went.

Awfully presumptuous XKCD today.

I wouldn’t say we agree on most of the left column, but then again, I don’t know to which ‘we’ Randall is referring.

Inspirobot is no longer trying to confuse the $#!7 out of me. Perhaps IR thinks that by being somewhat “understandable”, people will return from hiding? But that would mean…it’s a trap!

Man, I could really go for some corn dogs now! I haven’t been eating a lot of fried food in quarantine and I’m missing it.

1 Spice up

I bet if we did some research on some of those “experts” we would find out that they are not such “experts” after all, and that many of them have an agenda, which makes the whole concept of “expert” mean little in this context…

When did people become so trusting of what they are told without questioning it? And since when did questioning what you are told become a crime against humanity?

Are thousands of people REALLY going to die cause you want your haircut…c’mon…seriously…that’s not going to happen…
