With the new dashboard being added, is the old one no longer available?

Sorry if this has been asked/answered.

what new dashboard? do you mean the helpdesk dashboard? they both still exist

I mean this (see picture).

I no longer see my old dashboard, and am not seeing any way to view it?

The other one is still there. Switch to Inventory and then the dashboard drop down link will change. The static URL will still get you there as well. /dashboard/home

I now see the URL… says “…\ticket_dashboard” and if I manually type “dashboard” I see my old one… but I have no idea how to navigate to it via any of the menus, buttons, or any other method.

Also, under Settings>User Accounts. You can set the startup page. Mine is set to default and it opens up the old dashboard each morning. I was only displayed the new dashboard right after I upgraded.

Okay… as I feared… convoluted piece of shit it’s developing in to…

I prefer my menus to be consistent, not change depending on context…

So let’s summarize, so I’m clear.

  1. If I press “dashboard” I get this shitty new, useless, ticket summary… and in order to see my ACTUAL dashboard that I’ve had for years, I have to first hit “apps” choose “inventory” an then the “dashboard” link becomes “dashboards” and gives me different options, for which I can then access my “old” dashboard…

Wow fucking elegant…SMOOOOOOTH it only adds 3 clicks… sweet… nice and intuitive. /sarcasm

Who approved this garbage. Fuck… time to go back to a paid product. Soon Spiceworks will go the route of Microsoft and forget the alphabet too.

I’m tired of companies foisting work on me… fuck that… I’d rather change products.

Peace out, thanks for the info.

Yeah I am not a fan of the inconsistent menus either; just helping to point you to the solution :o)

Yes ma’am … I wasn’t upset with you…

This used to be a good product, back around v5 or so… I used to use it for inventory… but can no longer as it never removes unresponsive devices so it’s far from accurate, with manual intervention… making it no better than my Access database really.

I used to use the dashboard fairly often, but probably won’t be any longer… the only useful portions left are the helpdesk (for now) until they decide to “upgrade” that too, to accommodate another 40 or 50 clicks… which will only leave the community… in which case wtf do we need Spiceworks for… pfft

Actually, you can still get to the “old” dashboard by clicking the Inventory link at the top left when you’re in the app. You can also install this plugin if you want to customize your navbar to things you use frequently.

…again… all things I did not have to do previously…

Thanks for the help in complicating my work-flow…

I’m sorry you feel that way. Unfortunately, we cannot make all the users happy all the time and sometimes, changes are unwelcome. I’m an old dog myself and I kick and scream whenever things change. I get it and feel your pain. Hopefully, one of the work-arounds help. I’m sorry chiming in just made you madder - I was trying to provide some useful input.

Jackie.

I’m not mad… at all. Least of all at you.

I’m tired, frustrated, and annoyed that companies (seemingly ALL companies these days) think they dictate how to do something instead of providing the tool(s) to accomplish what we want… I’ll never work like that. I’ll simply change products to get what I like… it’s not my dime I’m spending here at work.

I’ve tried to convince my new boss that Spiceworks is the shit… yet every time I go to show him a killer feature or useful function, it has moved, changed, or no longer functions as well as it once did… hard to sell him on it like that.

Spiceworks will eventually join MySpace… I shouldn’t be surprised, it’s the way of the world.

Experts Exchange anyone?
