Hi, my english is very simple. I speak german or spanish better.

We have Spiceworks 7.3.00050 installed with 1 Central and 3 Remote Site Servers in perfect function.

When i upgrade to a latest version, the Remote Site Server can´t connect to Central Server.

It say´s “Central server is not responding”.

An when i disable, enable and save a Remote Site Config, say´s “Server is not responding”

I take the FW down, but the same problem. All Servers can be open in the other Servers with IE.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, up to install at a new servers without backupdata. The problem is the same.

I tried with another user account, but nothing change.

What i can do??

1 Spice up

I know there was a point in the 7.x release where we had to upgrade SSL. That broke the connection between sites. If you upgrade both sites to the latest release, do they re-connect?

Hello Matt,

The problem at that time could not be solved. In September.

I installed the latest version at all sites from zero for the time, but it could not be made remote site connection.

In November, my colleague made the upgrade to version 7.5.00050 and remote sites functioned without problem.

But the version 7.5.00055 in December again could not make a remote site connection.

Now I’ve wanted to upgrade made to the version 7.5.00063 and the remote sites can not join.

I even made a new installation on 2 PCs who Spiceworks never seen. But no response to the remote sites.

What do we wrong?

Hi Frank! Welcome back!

Is the central site using DHCP for it’s IP address, or does it have a statically assigned IP?

Are the sites connected via a VPN tunnel, or via MPLS nodes, or just across the internet?

Thank you!

The server all have static IP addresses, and run with Windows Server 2012r2.

The central server is in a VLAN and the 3 remotes sites have no VLAN, but come via VPN tunnel to the central server.

I do not believe that the VLAN or VPN the problem is, because:

  1. We are working since 2013 already and so the latter versions of Juli 2015, the troubelt.

  2. It got 2 brand new windows and installed the same IP range attempts also troubelte.

The problem arose when I wanted to upgrade to the version 7.3.00050 7.4.00075.

Then I tried the version 7.4.00099, but also was not working.

I even made a clean Intalation with version 7.4.00099, but nix.

Then in November we upgrade easily to version 7.5.00050 and all remote sites functioned.

But in December to version 7.5.00055, remained the problem again.

Jetzt wollten wir wieder versuchen zu upgraden, aber es troubelt immer noch.

I tried even to make a clean installation on Windows 2, who were never above, but also nothing.

I am bit frustrated with this upgrade, remote sites malfunction.

What else can we try?

Solution:

Deactivate the proxy settings in Spiceworkwebservers.

Only use the first time for login or activate the Spiceworkwebservers.

After the login we have deactivated the proxy on the Spiceworks Central and Remote Sites, and then the servers can see the others.

We run now the lastest version (7.5.00093) without proxy config.

When we tried with proxy, the servers said “Server not responding”.

Deactivate the proxy, and then works fine.

We use proxy with authentication for internet surfing.
