We have Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection as our AV solution and it is installed on every computer. Spiceworks is telling me that i have many PCs without AV installed on them. It is even listing out our servers as not having an AV installed. I have checked a handful of them by opening each pc in Spiceworks and looking over the software list. Sure enough, Endpoint Protection is listed under the installed software. How can i get Spiceworks to read them accurately?

Well we have ALL machines with the same AV but im guessing different versions depending on pc updates. On my dashboard under Security Center, it lists:

Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 15

Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 94

Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection 23

I am guessing each one is a different version of FEP.

Not to insight flames but I would say spiceworks is right in that FEP shouldnt be considered as an AV. We are thankfully moving away because it took forever to scan, could spend days/weeks without updated (the lack of which it didnt report to the management server) and it would happily detect nothing until a real product found it.

Is Forefront registring properly with the Microsoft Security Center? Spiceworks should not need to scan it directly, the OS should report it. Likely that reporting is failing.

We do not use Security Center. Just Forefront.

Side note: I just tried generating a report to list all devices with “Microsoft Forefront Endpoint Protection” installed but it looks like that is not an available combination in the reporting.

Security Center is part of Windows 7.
