Hi there,

I updated my Spiceworks but after downloading the update it didn’t do anything. So I shutdown Spiceworks and reopened it as instructed by the update thing but now it won’t launch.

The progress bar on the launching splash goes right up to 100% but then nothing happens, if I click on the splash screen the bar goes back to 0% and starts trying again this repeats. I have tried downloading the installation files from the website and installing them on top of my existing installation but this has not made any difference and the same symptoms persist.

How can I get Spiceworks back?

{"@type":"Person
{"@type":"Answer

If so then you will need to move your install to a newer OS as Spiceworks no longer works on Windows 2000 (I don’t think it has ever been officially supported but earlier versions did work on it). Spiceworks requires at least Windows XP or Server 2003 to work.

{"@type":"Person
Nick-C
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Nick-C"}},{"@type":"Answer
you can look here

http://community.spiceworks.com/help/Updating_Spiceworks

and wait a time after update

{"@type":"Person
scub
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/scub"}},{"@type":"Answer
{"@type":"Person
lewiswells7331
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/lewiswells7331"}},{"@type":"Answer
@ hsc5775 : I followed the instructions in the link, made sure all process’ were closed and reinstalled but the symptoms still persist.

{"@type":"Person
lewiswells7331
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/lewiswells7331"}},{"@type":"Answer
Check if IIS is installed on the server (or WSUS or any other program that wants to use port 80), it could be that another program is using the same port that Spiceworks wants to use, this will prevent SW from loading as you cannot have two programs using the same port number.

{"@type":"Person
Nick-C
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/Nick-C"}},{"@type":"Answer
you launch it on the server or over web on a client

have you switched SW to run as service?

{"@type":"Person
scub
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/scub"}},{"@type":"Answer
