I recently updated my server 2008 server and now Spiceworks wont launch. When I run Spiceworks desktop it gets all the way to the end and has the spiceworks address. I looked at the services and they did not start even though they are on auto. I started the service but still no spiceworks. I have also reinstalled Spiceworks still does not load.

Verify that you don’t have something in IIS running on port 80 as well. if you do, stop the web service in IIS and start Spiceworks. Or change the port Spiceworks runs on by right clicking the system tray icon.

{"@type":"Person
[{"@type":"Answer

I think I’d have to agree with BG46032 in that I have heard of others updating Windows or installing some small portion of the .net framework and in turn having it install a greater portion of IIS than anticipated and creating the port 80 conflict. Sound perfectly legit and makes sense, especailly since you mentioned tyou’ve completely reinstalled SpiceWorks.

{"@type":"Person
101110101101
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/101110101101"}},{"@type":"Answer

Are you running SW as a service? If so, right click the spice icon in the taskbar and choose preferences, untick the run as service and click ok, then kill spice in task manager and stop the services.

Restart the services, try to launch the desktop manager and see if it loads, if it does, you can set it back to run as a service.

So the port changed work for a temp fix. Looks like IIS has put the default site in there. So that is running on 80 I assume.

{"@type":"Person
michaelhuset5885
https://community.spiceworks.com/u/michaelhuset5885"}},{"@type":"Answer
