Hey all, remember back when we used to have Release Notes for the Spiceworks Community? Well, in honor of #ThrowbackThursday, we’re bringing it back!

Due to how development has evolved since then (now that we follow an agile methodology), we are changing this up a bit. We’ll have a static page that we’ll update that will contain the full list of Release Notes. But, since I know some of you like to be made aware of when updates occur, we’ll also update this topic with them so feel free to subscribe to it.

Here is the latest listing and, as new updates occur, we’ll reply to this topic.

  • Fixed an issue where a user group was not being displayed on the User Group Listing when that user group has been made public

  • Fixed an issue where the original post (root post of a topic) could not be edited on “Needs Recommendation” type topics and was instead displaying an “Oops! A Server Error Has Occurred.” message.

Hmmm, no, that sounds like an issue with an ad-blocker or perhaps an extension/plugin that is conflicting with that code.

Got a 2-fer since there was a release late yesterday and another one this morning:

  • Updated the API used for the Vidyard Player used in video topics

  • Now when a Username change request is approved, it will also update the URLname

  • Minor change for Community service queries to the Marketplace service to use the Community product ID instead of “product ID”

  • Updated our calls to the YouTube API to pull in the “maxresdefault” thumbnail when available; when it is not available, it will still default to the “hqdefault” image

  • Additional minor change for Community service queries to the Marketplace service to use the Community product ID instead of “product ID”. Note, we are aware of the (very rare) issue when there is a mismatch on these identification numbers on the activity feed for a profile referencing the wrong product and we will have a fix for this soon.

  • Fixed an issue where Followers, Mutual Followers, and Both Following on the people profile was either leading to your own profile (when logged in) or nowhere (if logged out). This also fixed the issue where the Usernames may have displayed the wrong color (for example, active brand representatives have a green Username, SpiceWorkers have an orange one, etc).

  • Deprecated (aka removed) the Windows Event feature in the Community.

  • Upgraded to a newer version of the JavaScript runtime environment used in the Community.

  • Added some additional logging to the Verified Professional process to help troubleshoot issues members are having when submitting for verification.

  • Updated the product cards on the Community homepage to include double-carats that can be used to visit that product category.

  • Updated the processing of requests between the Community and our email delivery system which was resulting in emails being sent to users when they should not have (due to too many bounces).

  • Fixed an issue where the breadcrumb markup that Google was expecting disappeared for Topics on the desktop version of Community.

  • Added a new section to Review pages that denote how the product or service is deployed, what company size(s) it is targeted at, and the Pricing & Licensing model, when applicable. Most products do not have these attributes yet but you will start seeing it roll out starting today.

You get a two-fer today because I was out earlier this week when we had some updates:

  • Added markdown to Spiceworks How-To articles. You can learn more here about this .

  • Added a member’s email status (active or suspended) to their User History; this is an admin feature so we can better diagnose issues a member may be having when they notify us they are not receiving emails from us.
