We are a MSP\Hosting provider currently using a very old version of N-Able Ncentral 5 to monitor our internal systems and our clients. We require a solution that works regardless if the customer is remote on-premise systems or hosted in our datacenter. We are looking to either upgrade to latest version of Ncentral 9 or maybe see what SpiceWorks has to offer? Any service providers out there have feedback? Again, we need a product that integrates between several domains, networks and external sites (even those not connected to us through a VPN).

Thanks!

I think you are missing what Spiceworks does. Spiceworks was never designed as a RMM solution. Its ment for a one person shop (or a team) in a single organization.

You can make it work for MSP’s like many of us do. However, it lacks many features we take for granted from true RMM solutions.

Spiceworks is a fully workable helpdesk system and inventory solution that you can use in your organizations and for each of your clients. So it can be a very helpful tool. However, it should not be considered the only tool you should use. Especially for monitoring.

Take a look at my MSP how -to for some ideas on how Spiceworks can work for you.

Thanks… we already have helpdesk system so we are realy only interested in the monitoring portion

tuscani,

As a fellow MSP, I use LevelPlatforms. Before I was using LPi I tried to use Spiceworks. I was able to tie all of my clients into a single database and everything was updating to my office. Unfortunately, errors and report generation caused a wide variety of other issues as everything was in a single ‘site’, rather than separated into different businesses for each location.

Thanks… I will check it out… what is the pricing on that?

Spiceworks is not the best monitoring system available. Stick with Nagios.
