Hey all,

It appears our SpiceWorks installation is in bad shape, and we would like to reinstall as a fresh system for various reason. However we really do not want to lose all of the historical/current data/trouble tickets in the HelpDesk area. Is there an easy way to backup and import just those specific tables into a new install. What tables do I need to save? What would be the best approach for something like this?

Thanks in advance for any help, I would be glad to provide more details or answer any questions regarding this task.

Thansk

Here are the instructions on how to migrate Spiceworks to a new install: https://community.spiceworks.com/how_to/295-move-your-spiceworks-installation

If you don’t want to move the entire DB and just want to move tickets, you might be able to use the data_migrations/helpdesk page to export from your current install, then use the same page on the new install to import the tickets back in.

It’s kind of a hack of our " Export your On-Prem tickets for the Cloud Help Desk ", but it should still work.

Since you just want to move tickets, this is your best bet:

https://community.spiceworks.com/support/help-desk/docs/import-tickets

Follow the export part from “Transferring tickets from on-prem to cloud” and the import part from “Transferring tickets from cloud to on-prem”.

Thank you all for your quick responses, will this also allow us to keep the hours and costs associated with each ticket for historical purposes?

Thanks

the import/export message BGM and I posted won’t bring over the actual labor tables. It will bring over the comments made on the comments about them, but the actual Time Spent field isn’t transferred.

The more traditional migration method L0ST_0NE posted will get everything in the DB moved over. No selection of tables there, just the thing.
