I’m having a problem with scanning our inventory using the domain admin account in spiceworks. For some reason it is no longer accepting the credentials of the admin account. I already tried several different accounts just to test and all of them come back with an error. Initially Endpoint protection was being a pain but after following several guides about opening ports and adding spiceworks in the exception list that seems to have gone away. However i keep getting “Authentication failed for user domain/domainadmin” errors and cant seem to find a way around it.

Any help highly appreciated.

Thanks

Sorry to state the obvious, but is the account locked out?

Has anything changed since this last worked?

Can you log into those machines with RDP using the domain admin account?

If you chose to scan one of the problem machines manually using the domain admin account, do es it give the same error?

no the accounts all of which I tried we use daily, I can log in to those machines although not with RDP because RDP is disabled on most of them. Manual scan shows the same problem. The problem has been around for quite a while but was mostly WMI issues. Now seems like WMI issues are at least partially gone but the authentication keeps failing

I read somewhere that reinstalling Spiceworks mgiht help but i’d like to keep that as the last resort

The exact error when I try to test the account is “check account, password or WMI configuration”
