I’m sure I’m overlooking something but I can’t figure it out. I’m upgrading our PC’s from Office 2010 to Office 2013. I’m actually un-installing 2010, then installing 2013 clean. Spiceworks still lists these PC’s under 2010, and I can’t figure out why. It also lists the PC’s under Office 2013. I deleted one of the PC’s (mine) from Spiceworks, it scanned it, picked it back up and still lists the PC under 2013 and 2010. Maybe the file system is still intact after un-installing? Or keys in the registry? Where does Spiceworks get it’s program list when it scans?

I use Spiceworks for referencing my licensing needs so I’d like for it to be as accurate as possible.

Thanks!

This is a known issue with the Microsoft uninstaller, it does not properly remove the license information from the registry. See here for a fix:

If you are on a 64 bit machine with 32 bit office the key is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office

This is missing from the above howto, but is covered in the comments.

Thanks guys! I didn’t see that!
